About NapaNow

NapaNow was founded by Mick Winter, who has lived in the Napa Valley for the past twenty-five years.

During his time in the valley, he has poured wine and led tours through wineries, created wine advertising, and been a staff writer for the industry's largest publication.

Mick has been on the Internet since 1985, and on the World Wide Web since it began. He was a member of The WELL (The Whole Earth Lectronic Link) from the day it started, and wrote the first user manual for that pioneering online community system.

He was also a co-founder of NapaNet, a local Internet Service Provider that began as a non-profit organization established to put local schools on the Internet.

He then created Westong, a website designed for locals to keep them informed about local events but which also turned into one of the leading Napa Valley websites for visitors, eventually becoming known as Napa Valley Online. Later he assisted the valley's daily newspaper, the Napa Valley Register, in launching its first website.

He sold Napa Valley Online and focused on turning a small book that he had earlier created—Napa Valley in a Nutshell—into a much larger book, which became the most comprehensive guidebook available to the Napa Valley. That book, available in paperback, is The Napa Valley Book: The Insider's Guide for Visitors and Residents, which is available from Amazon.com.

It soon became clear that a website was the only way to offer truly up-to-date (and we mean day-by-day) information, so he transformed The Napa Valley Book into NapaNow. (Along the way, he also became the Napa Valley host for Home&Abroad.)

NapaNow is absolutely the most comprehensive, up-to-date website on the Napa Valley available anywhere on the Internet.

It's up-to-date because Mick lives in the valley, and keeps on top of changes in the tourism industry and in events and activities that affect local residents.

It's comprehensive because he has included every business, activity and event that he feels is important to list, regardless of whether or not they currently, or ever will, advertise on NapaNow.

It's also easy to use, because that's the kind of website he likes to use himself. We hope you find the site useful, too.

You might also find some of our other websites interesting. We recommend Boomers Abroad, Dry Dipstick and Beyond Peak.
